SALT LAKE CITY -- Former Cal State L.A. shortstop Jesus Campos has been called up to the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim's Triple-A team in Salt Lake City.

Campos was called up on Saturday to replace injured infielder Nate Sutton. He was in the starting lineup on Sunday at third base in Salt Lake City's 8-7 win over Reno at Spring Mobile Ballpark. Campos was 2-for-3 with a walk and a run scored. He also fielded four chances at third base flawlessly.

Campos, who was selected in the 24th round of Major League Baseball's First-Year Player Draft last month, was promoted from the Angels' Arizona Summer League team. He had appeared in two games there and was 3-for-7 with one double.

Campos, who earned All-California Collegiate Athletic Association honorable mention in 2010, was a two-year starter for Cal State L.A. He appeared in 90 games during his Cal State L.A. career and contributed 426 outs while showing great range and a strong arm at shortstop. He also scored 68 runs while hitting .282 overall in 326 at bats.

In 2010, he made only eight errors in 218 chances and also hit .272 with two home runs, 31 runs scored and 24 RBI.

Salt Lake City has won the first two games in a four-games series against Reno.
