Meet Results
CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Cal State L.A.'s men's and women's track and field teams earned All-America honors in six more events Saturday on the final day of the NCAA Division II Track and Field Championships at Irwin Belk Track Complex.
Damein White was second in the 100 meters and 200,
Josh Como took second in the triple jump and the 4x100 relay team was third while helping the men finish tied for sixth in the nation.
Moriah Jubrey was sixth in the 200 and seventh in the 100 to give her seven All-America awards in her two-year Cal State L.A. career.
White, who was second in the 200 and sixth in the 100 in 2008, was even better on Saturday. He was second in the 100 in 10.46, only finishing behind Lincoln's Kimour Bruce, who won in 10.37. He came back to finish second in the 200, running a season's best 20.74. Josh Scott of St. Augustine's won the event in 20.53.
Como, who entered the meet as the nation's top triple jumper, placed second on Saturday with a mark of 52-3.25. Jonathon Allen of Lake Superior State won the event with a mark of 53-4.50. Como had earned All-America honors on Thursday after finishing sixth in the long jump.
White and Como were also part of the 4x100 relay team that included
Leve Ross and
Dominic McGiffert. The Golden Eagles were third with a time of 40.52. St. Augustine won with a time of 39.75, while Fort Valley State was second in 40.26.
White completed his Cal State L.A. career with six All-America awards.
Verlondon Harris also competed for the Golden Eagles' men team and was 16th in the shot put with a mark of 52-3.25.
Jubrey had a busy day for the women and increased her career All-America total. She took sixth in the 200 with a time of 24.01. Semoy Hackett won the event with a meet record of 22.75. She also placed seventh in the 100 with a time of 12.02. Hackett also won that event with a time of 11.33.
Jubrey completed her Cal State L.A. career with three All-America awards this year -- two in outdoor track and one in indoor track -- and seven in her career, five in outdoor track and two in indoor.
Jamilah St. Cyr competed in three events for the Golden Eagles on Saturday. She was 10th in the javelin with a mark of 139-8, 14th in the high hurdles in 14.33 and 16th in the shot put with a mark of 42-5.25.
The women's 4x400 relay team of
Brittany Manuel,
Alisha Belt, Jubrey and
Jennifer Shoate finished 10th with a time of 3:34.01.
