LOS ANGELES – Cal State L.A.’s women’s indoor track and field team will be represented in four events at the 2010 NCAA Division II National Indoor Track and Field Championships on March 12-13.
St. Cyr, who earned All-America honors in indoor track in the 60 meter hurdles in 2007, has the No. 10 mark in the nation entering the championships in that event. Her qualifying time was 8.67. St. Cyr will be searching for her second All-America award in indoor track and fourth overall. She also has a pair of All-America honors in the 100 hurdles in outdoor track.
Smith, who earned All-America honors in the heptathlon in outdoor track in 2009 for the Golden Eagles, will be vying for her first indoor All-America award. She has the 10th-best qualifying mark in the pentathlon with 3,584 points and the ninth-best long jump mark with a leap of 19-1.50.
She will also be part of the 4x400 relay team that enters the championships with the No. 4 qualifying mark in the nation at 3:48.77.
A few other Golden Eagles narrowly missed qualifying for nationals. Jubrey, who earned All-America honors last year in the 400 after finishing eighth in the event, was just outside of the field of 13 set for the 200 meters and
Tuekeha Huntley was just outside the field of 13 that made it in the pentathlon. Jubrey had a provisional qualifying mark of 24.95, while Huntley had a provisional mark of 3,391 in the pentathlon.
Other Golden Eagles who had provisional marks that didn’t reach the championships included
Liliana Hernandez in the 5,000 meters (17:45.28), St. Cyr in the shot put (44-7) and Smith in the 60 hurdles (8.96).
