SEATTLE, WA – Cal State L.A.’s women’s indoor track and field team got its 2010 season underway Friday in the first day of the 2010 University of Washington Invitational.
Shianne Smith led four Golden Eagles in the indoor pentathlon, while
Liliana Hernandez and
Dora Perez ran well in the 5,000 in the opening day of the two-day event at the Dempsey Indoor Arena. Smith finished third in the pentathlon with an NCAA Division II provisional qualifying mark of 3,584 points.
Smith had marks of 8.96 in the 60 hurdles, 5-2.25 in the high jump, 29-4.75 in the shot put, 18-8 in the long jump and 2:26.60 in the 800.
Tuekeha Huntley was ninth in the event with 3,295 points. She had marks of 9.67 in the 60 hurdles, 4-10.5 in the high jump, 37-10.75 in the shot put, 16-7.75 in the long jump and 2:29.39 in the 800.
Ashley Fletcher was 15
th with 3,055 points. She had marks of 9.52 in the 60 hurdles, 5-2.25 in the high jump, 33-8 in the shot put, 15-9.75 in the long jump and 2:48.20 in the 800.
Jamilah St. Cyr was 18
th in the event with 3,020 points. She had marks of 9.08 in the 60 hurdles, 4-11.75 in the high jump, 41-00.25 in the shot put, 17-2.75 in the long jump and 3:26.04 in the 800.
Hernandez finished 14th in the 5,000 with a time of 18:09.43, while Perez was 17th with a time of 18:36.74.
The Golden Eagles will complete the two-day meet on Saturday.
