SAN ANGELO, TX -- Cal State L.A.'s women's track and field team put the finishing touches on an outstanding season by finishing seventh in the country in the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
Vivien Wadeck finished second in the 5,000 meters, the 4x100 relay team finished third,
Moriah Jubrey finished fourth in the 200 and seventh in the 100 and
Karla Alburez finished fifth in the steeplechase to lead the way on Saturday.
The top eight finishers in each event earned All-America honors. Cal State L.A. picked up five All-America awards on Saturday to give the Golden Eagles a total of eight for the meet (seven for women and one for men.
Cal State L.A.'s women finished with 32 points.
Wadeck, the CCAA champion in the 5,000, toopk second on Saturday with a time of 16:49.51. Neely Spence of Shippensburg won the national championship with a time of 16:35.36.
The 4x100 relay team of
Sierra Backus, Jubrey,
Tanyshia Ridley and
Shianne Smith took third with a time of 46.39. Lincoln won the national title with a time of 44.32 and St. Augustine's was second with 45.19.
Jubrey then earned a pair of All-America awards in the sprints, taking fourth in the 200 with a time of 23.89 and taking seventh in the 100 with a time of 11.74.
Alburez picked up her All-America award in the steeplechase by placing fifth with a time of 10:55.32.
