MALIBU – Cal State L.A.’s women’s basketball team found the going tough against NCAA Division I opponent Pepperdine Friday.
The Golden Eagles struggled with turnovers and fouls and fell to Pepperdine, 108-52, in their second exhibition game in as many days against Division I foes. Cal State L.A. lost to UNLV on Thursday in the Eagles Nest, 67-42.
Jazmine Jackson and Katie Menton had 18 points each to lead four Waves in double figures. Lauren Bell had 12 points and Audrey Miller had 10 points.
The Golden Eagles committed 45 turnovers, while Pepperdine only had 18. The game featured 66 fouls – 36 on Cal State L.A. and 30 on Pepperdine.
Cal State L.A. held its own on the boards and equaled Pepperdine’s 45.
The Golden Eagles, though, struggled from the field and made just 33.3 percent from the floor, including 1-of-14 from 3-point range. Pepperdine shot 45 percent and made 10-of-25 tries from 3-point range.
Cal State L.A. trailed, 64-26, at halftime.
Cal State L.A. will conclude its exhibition season next Friday with a game at NAIA program Concordia.
