Golden Eagles Get In Final Tuneup Race Before CCAA Meet

NORTHRIDGE – Cal State L.A.’s women’s cross country team got its final tuneup for the California Collegiate Athletic Association Championships by running in the Cal State Northridge Invitational Friday night.
Vivien Wadeck finished 11th in a field of 107 after covering a 5,000-meter course at Balboa Park in 18:26.76. Wadeck is the reigning CCAA Runner of the Week.
Lorena Banda was next for the Golden Eagles, placing 25th in 19:06.54. Vivien Rico was 35th in 19:42.78, Justina Sadauskaite was 37th in 19:48.10, Keri Molt was 57th in 20:27.70, Sierra Olivas was 79th in 22:42.32 and Melissa Lopez was 82nd in 22:48.52.
Team scores were unofficial because of a mixup at the finish line.
The Golden Eagles will now set their sights on the CCAA Championships, which will be held next Saturday at Humboldt State. Cal State L.A. won the conference championship in 2007 and finished second in 2008. Wadeck is the defending individual champion.
