NEW ORLEANS – Cal State L.A.’s women’s cross country, indoor track and field and outdoor track and field programs combined to give the Golden Eagles a lofty placing in the inaugural Division II Women’s Program of the Year. The USTFCCCA announced the top programs in the nation and Cal State L.A. finished sixth. The Golden Eagles were seventh in the nation in outdoor track and field, 13th in the country in cross country and 26th in indoor track and field.

7.6.2009 | Women's Outdoor Track and Field
NEW ORLEANS – Cal State L.A.’s women’s track and field team had three student-athletes named to the 2009 United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association All-Academic team, the USTFCCCA announced on Monday. Vivien Wadeck, Shianne Smith and Franziska Dobler were among 250 student-athletes representing 73 Division II programs to make up the 2009 All-Academic team.

LOS ANGELES -- Cal State L.A.’s women’s track and field team enjoyed its best season in several years in 2009. The Golden Eagles finished second in the California Collegiate Athletic Association and then placed seventh in the nation in the NCAA Division II Championships. Cal State L.A., which didn’t score a point in the national meet in 2008, scored 32 points this time around.

5.23.09 | Women's Outdoor Track and Field
SAN ANGELO, TX -- Cal State L.A.'s women's track and field team put the finishing touches on an outstanding season by finishing seventh in the country in the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships. Vivien Wadeck finished second in the 5,000 meters, the 4x100 relay team finished third, Moriah Jubrey finished fourth in the 200 and seventh in the 100 and Karla Alburez finished fifth in the steeplechase to lead the way on Saturday.

5.22.09 | Women's Outdoor Track and Field

SAN ANGELO, TX – Cal State L.A.’s men’s and women’s track and field teams saw their multi-event competitors put an All-American start to Day 2 of the 2009 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships and then had a triple-jumper join the fun. Josh Linker finished fifth in the decathlon, Shianne Smith finished sixth in the heptathlon and Sierra Backus was fifth in the triple jump and all earned All-America awards.

SAN ANGELO, TX – Cal State L.A.’s men’s and women’s track and field teams got the 2009 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships off to an outstanding start Thursday at the LeGrand Sports Complex at Angelo State University. Moriah Jubrey ran a season’s best 11.74 to qualify for the finals in the 100 meters, Shianne Smith is sixth after the first day of the heptathlon, Josh Linker is eighth after the first day of the decathlon, Karla Alburez qualified for the finals of the steeplechase and the women’s 4x100 relay has qualified for the finals.

5.20.09 | Women's Outdoor Track and Field
LOS ANGELES – Cal State L.A.’s men’s and women’s track and field teams will now be represented by 13 student-athletes at the NCAA Division II Track and Field Championships with the addition of Ashley Fletcher to the women’s long jump field on Wednesday. Fletcher, who had posted a provisional qualifying mark of 18-11.75 in the event, was an alternate to the championship field and was added due to another competitor withdrawing from the competition.

NEW ORLEANS – Cal State L.A. assistant track and field coach Kendra Reimer has been named the NCAA Division II West Region Women’s Assistant Coach of the Year by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association, the organization announced on Monday. Reimer coaches the multis, jumps, sprints and throws for the Golden Eagles. She is in her third year with the program.

5.12.09 | Women's Outdoor Track and Field
LOS ANGELES – Cal State L.A.’s men’s and women’s track and field teams will be represented by 12 student-athletes at the NCAA Division II Track and Field Championships. The championship field was announced Tuesday for the meet, which will be held on May 21-23 in San Angelo, Texas, and hosted by Angelo State. The Golden Eagles will have 10 members of the women’s track and field team and two members of the men’s team representing Cal State L.A.
