LA JOLLA -- Cal State L.A.'s men's basketball team surrendered the first eight points of the game and never fully recovered Saturday night in a California Collegiate Athletic Association contest. The Golden Eagles eventually fell behind by as many as 18 points and lost to UC San Diego, 83-77, Saturday night in RIMAC Arena. Cal State L.A. was forced to settle for a road split this week.

The Golden Eagles fought back from an eight-point second-half deficit and outlasted the Pioneers, 70-64, Thursday night in a California Collegiate Athletic Association game in Hayward. Cal State L.A. The Golden Eagles were blanked over the final two minutes, while Chico State was perfect on four free-throw attempts and beat Cal State L.A., 62-61, Friday in Acker Gym. Cal State L.A. (12-5, 6-4 CCAA) slipped back into a third-place tie in the CCAA with Chico State (9-8, 10-5 CCAA) and two others.
