2.5.2010 | Women's Indoor Track and Field

FRESNO -- Cal State L.A.'s women's indoor track and field team posted several outstanding marks and won the team competition Saturday at the Run For The Dream meet in Fresno. The Golden Eagles won dual meet scoring against Azusa Pacific, Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, Cal State Dominguez Hills, Cal State Stanislaus, Cal State Bakersfield, Fresno Pacific, Fresno State and USC.

SEATTLE, WA – Cal State L.A.’s women’s indoor track and field team competed well in the final day of the University of Washington Invitational. Jamilah St. Cyr set a provisional NCAA Division II qualifying mark in the 60 meter hurdles while winning her heat and All-American Moriah Jubrey ran well in the 60 and 200 in her first races of the season.

SEATTLE, WA – Cal State L.A.’s women’s indoor track and field team got its 2010 season underway Friday in the first day of the 2010 University of Washington Invitational. Shianne Smith led four Golden Eagles in the indoor pentathlon, while Liliana Hernandez and Dora Perez ran well in the 5,000 in the opening day of the two-day event at the Dempsey Indoor Arena. Smith finished third in the pentathlon.

NEW ORLEANS – Cal State L.A.’s women’s cross country, indoor track and field and outdoor track and field programs combined to give the Golden Eagles a lofty placing in the inaugural Division II Women’s Program of the Year. The USTFCCCA announced the top programs in the nation and Cal State L.A. finished sixth. The Golden Eagles were seventh in the nation in outdoor track and field, 13th in the country in cross country and 26th in indoor track and field.

LOS ANGELES -- Cal State L.A.’s women’s indoor track and field team completed another solid season that included All-America honors for a pair of Golden Eagles. The Golden Eagles finished in a tie for 26th in the nation at the NCAA Division II Championships at the Yeoman Field House in Houston, TX. Cal State L.A. was fifth among West Region programs. Two Golden Eagles earned All-America honors in the competition.

HOUSTON, TX – Cal State L.A.’s indoor women’s track and field team had a pair of All-American performances Saturday. Sierra Backus finished fourth in the triple jump and Moriah Jubrey took eighth in the 400 meters in the NCAA Division II Indoor Championships at the Yeoman Field House at the University of Houston. The top-eight performers in each event earn All-America honors.

HOUSTON, TX – Cal State L.A.’s Moriah Jubrey will have her shot at earning All-America honors on Saturday thanks to a strong qualifying performance on Friday at the Yeoman Field House on the campus of the University of Houston. Jubrey finished second in her heat of the 400 meters at the 2009 NCAA Division II Indoor Championships on Friday and had the fourth-fastest time overall.

LOS ANGELES – Cal State L.A.’s women’s indoor track and field team got three Golden Eagles into the NCAA Division II Indoor National Championships, but two others missed out by the narrowest of margins. Sierra Backus, Denina Speights and Moriah Jubrey are in, but Vivien Wadeck and Franziska Dobler were left out when the final list of competitors was announced Tuesday morning.

CHICAGO, IL – Cal State L.A.’s women’s indoor track and field team finished second in the two-day Margaret Bradley Invitational that concluded Saturday at the University of Chicago. Cal State L.A. finished with 114 points to trail only host University of Chicago, which finished with 160. Shianne Smith had a fantastic meet for the Golden Eagles, winning four individual events.
