Golden Eagles Sweep Past Northwood To Open Tourney

LOS ANGELES – Cal State L.A.’s women’s volleyball team got off its 2010 season off to a quick start in the Cal State L.A.-Cal Poly Pomona Tournament. The Golden Eagles swept past Northwood (MI), 25-19, 25-11, 25-16 Thursday night in the Eagles Nest. Cal State L.A., ranked 14^th in the nation, pounded out 17 service aces and hit at a .306 percentage.

Golden Eagles To Host Tourney Starting On Thursday

LOS ANGELES – Cal State L.A.’s volleyball team will open its 2010 season with a three-day tournament in the Eagles Nest beginning on Thursday. The Golden Eagles, ranked 14^th in the nation by the American Volleyball Coaches Association, will face Northwood (MI) in their first match of the season at 7 p.m. on Thursday. The tournament will get underway on Thursday at 1 p.m. with a match between Academy of Art and Northwood.

Golden Eagles Ranked 14th In Nation In AVCA Poll

LEXINGTON, KY – Cal State L.A.’s volleyball team has been ranked 14^th in the nation in the American Volleyball Coaches Association Division II Top-25 poll released on Wednesday. The Golden Eagles finished the 2009 season ranked 15^th in the nation after recording a 23-9 record that included NCAA playoff wins over Sonoma State and UC San Diego.

Golden Eagles Picked Third By CCAA Volleyball Coaches

LOS ANGELES – Cal State L.A. has been picked to finish third in the California Collegiate Athletic Association in a poll of conference coaches released by the conference on Monday. Four-time defending champion Cal State San Bernardino was picked to win the 2010 conference title and received the maximum 11 first-place votes and 121 points. Coaches are not allowed to vote for their own teams.

Golden Eagles To Open 2010 Season With Home Tournament

LOS ANGELES – Cal State L.A.’s volleyball team will open its 2010 campaign with four matches over three days next month in the Cal State L.A./Cal Poly Pomona Invitational. The Golden Eagles, who advanced to the NCAA Division II West Region Championship match last season, will play their first eight matches of the season in the Eagles Nest.

Golden Eagles Soar To Regional Final In Banner 2009

LOS ANGELES -- Cal State L.A.’s women’s volleyball team made an impressive late-season run in 2009 and added to its lofty credentials as one of the top programs in the country. The Golden Eagles qualified for the NCAA Division II playoffs as the No. 6 seed and recorded playoff wins over No. 3 seed Sonoma State and No. 2 seed UC San Diego before falling in the regional championship match to No. 1 seed and tournament host Cal State San Bernardino.

Randi Smart Named CSULA Women's Volleyball Coach

LOS ANGELES – Randi Smart, who led Cal State L.A. to 23 wins and into the NCAA Division II West Region championship match as the interim coach in 2009, has been named Cal State L.A.’s head women’s volleyball coach, Golden Eagle Director of Athletics Dan Bridges announced on Wednesday. Smart was named the interim coach in February and led a young squad with only two seniors to a 23-9 overall record and to a third-place finish in the California Collegiate Athletic Association.

Bulawczyk Earns AVCA All-West Region Honorable Mention

LEXINGTON, KY – Cal State L.A.’s women’s volleyball star Gabriela Bulawczyk earned her second straight All-Region honor from the American Coaches Volleyball Association on Tuesday. Bulawczyk earned 2009 AVCA All-West Region honorable mention after her second outstanding season with the Golden Eagles.

No. 19 Golden Eagles' Playoff Run Ends In West Region Final

SAN BERNARDINO -- Cal State L.A.'s women's volleyball team saw its impressive run through the NCAA playoffs come to an abrupt end Saturday night. Cal State L.A., after beating the No. 3 and No. 2 seeds in the opening two rounds, came up short in the West Region championship match, falling to No. 1 seed and tourney host Cal State San Bernardino, 25-18, 25-18, 25-15.
