LOS ANGELES -- Cal State L.A.’s men’s soccer team enjoyed a tremendously successful 2009 season that included a California Collegiate Athletic Association South Division title, a third trip to the NCAA Division II West Region championship game in the past four years, a first-ever No. 1 national ranking during the regular season, a record four All-Americans and a CCAA Coach of the Year award for head coach Chris Chamides.

KANSAS CITY, KS -- Cal State L.A.'s men's soccer team had a record four student-athletes earn All-America honors when the National Soccer Coaches Association of America announced the 2009 NSCAA/Performance Subaru Men's NCAA Division II All-America team on Friday. Mickey Daly and Federico Cino earned first-team All-America honors, while Aza Gomez and Miguel Cucue earned third-team honors.

KANSAS CITY, KS – Cal State L.A.’s Federico Cino, Mickey Daly, Miguel Cucue and Aza Gomez were all named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America’s NCAA Division II All-West Region first team announced on Tuesday. The Golden Eagles, who finished the regular season ranked seventh in the nation, first in the West Region and advanced to the NCAA West Region championship game for the third time in four years, had four first-team selections for the first time in the program’s history.

LOS ANGELES – Cal State L.A.’s Federico Cino, Mickey Daly, Aza Gomez and Simon Volk were all named to the 2009 Daktronics NCAA Division II West Region Men’s Soccer teams released on Wednesday. Cino, Daly and Gomez all earned first-team honors, while Volk was named to the second team in voting done by the region’s sports information directors.

The Golden Eagles fell behind late in the first half and had three outstanding chances in the latter stages of the second half go awry in a tough 1-0 loss to defending national champion Cal State Dominguez Hills Sunday at Jesse Owens Track.

LOS ANGELES– Cal State L.A.’s men’s soccer team won a wild one Friday night to advance to the NCAA Division II West Region championship game for the third time in four years. The Golden Eagles scored the final two goals of the game to beat Cal State San Bernardino, 5-3, Friday night at Jesse Owens Track. Cal State L.A. (18-3-1) got a three-goal hat trick from Aza Gomez and two goals from Federico Cino to finally subdue a talented Cal State San Bernardino squad.

LOS ANGELES Cal State L.A.’s men’s soccer team, which is making its third trip to the NCAA Division II playoffs in the past four years, will complete a three-game soccer playoff fest on Friday night at 7 p.m. with a semi-final match against Cal State San Bernardino. A women's game between Dixie State and CS Dominguez Hills at noon starts the day and Sonoma State-CS Dominguez Hills will battle in a men's semi-final at 4 p.m.

LOS ANGELES – Cal State L.A.’s men’s and women’s soccer teams will be hosting NCAA Division II playoff action this week after both earned No. 1 seeds in the West Region. The women’s team, which claimed its first-ever conference championship on Sunday, will host a three-team regional that begins on Friday, while the men's team will host CS San Bernardino on Friday at 7 p.m. as part of a four-team regional.

TURLOCK – Cal State L.A.’s men’s soccer team discovered the third time was not the charm Friday night in a California Collegiate Athletic Association Championship Tournament semi-final match. The Golden Eagles allowed a first-half goal to Sonoma State and lost to the Seawolves, 1-0, at Warrior Stadium on the campus of Cal State Stanislaus. Cal State L.A. (17-3-1) lost in a semi-final conference match to Sonoma State (14-3-4) for the third straight year.
