Golden Eagles Get Mixed Results At Olympic Trials

EUGENE, OR -- A pair of Cal State L.A. track and field record holders had mixed results Thursday during the U.S. Olympic Trials. Jacques Sallberg, an All-American for Cal State L.A. in 1996, finished fourth in his heat and safely qualified for the finals in the 3,000 meter steeplechase, while three-time All-American Eugene Hutchinson missed qualifying for the finals in the high jump by the narrowest of margins.

White Ready For His Fourth Of July Sprint In Eugene

Cal State L.A. sprinter Damein White provides Thursday's diary from the U.S. Olympic Trials in Eugene, Oregon. White will compete on Friday in the 200 meters and he details activities on Thursday after arriving in Oregon on Wednesday night. White is one of three Cal State L.A. Golden Eagles who are competing this week for a spot on the United States Olympic Team. The top three in each event will make the U.S. Olympic Team, which will compete later this summer in Beijing.
